The purpose of First Baptist Church of Woodbridge (FBCW) is to glorify God through committed worship, intentional discipleship, and loving Christian fellowship, that they may faithfully share the love of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible in their church, community, and throughout the world.
FBCW of Woodbridge, Virginia, is located in Prince William County about 25 miles south of Washington, D.C. FBCW has become one of the largest and most prominent churches with over 1000 members in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. As the Lord moves transient members to other places of work and service, He provides replacements and growth through people moving to Woodbridge for a few years, or those moving to make Woodbridge their home. This membership flow gives the church a continuous capacity for fresh ideas, skills, and spiritual gifts for new and exciting work.
FBCW is searching for a full-time Minister to Students who will lead and provide oversight of the Student Ministry at FBCW. The Minister to Students will bear responsibility for administering and developing the comprehensive standards, curriculums, and programming elements, and ensure its successful implementation and alignment with the overall vision of the church.
The Minister to Students will lead a Student Ministry marked by excellence, growth, and impact. They will be a servant-leader that champions the mission of each ministry and culture of FBCW. They will be a strategic contributor to the family ministry team, in terms of inter-generational growth and connectivity as FBCW looks ahead to its future.
The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in a field that contributes to the successful execution of the position responsibilities. A seminary degree in Christian Education, Christian Studies, or similar area with a focus on Youth Ministry is preferred. An advanced degree in Youth Ministry or Christian Education is highly desired. The candidate will have experience preparing and delivering age-appropriate sermons to students and preferably have post-baccalaureate practical experience evangelizing youth and leading Student Ministry. They will be ideally gifted in servant leadership and administration, having demonstrated experience with increasing levels of responsibility leadership in a Youth Ministry, preferably with at least 5 years as a professional (paid) member of a church staff leading paid and volunteer staff in Student Ministry. The ideal candidate would also have the ability to play a musical instrument, lead a worship band, and provide audio-visual technical oversight. The successful candidate for the position of Minister to Students will be highly organized, detail-oriented, creative, and relational. A spirit of adaptability with excellence in direct and indirect communication is vital. They will possess a teachable spirit with a passion to nurture and maximize the potential of the Student Ministry at FBCW.. The candidate must have a calling to student ministry.
