Director of Children’s Ministries – Advent United Methodist Church, Simpsonville, SC General Profile of the Role The Director of Children’s Ministry will be responsible for ministries for all children from birth through 5th grade while simultaneously equipping parents to be the primary faith influence in their children’s lives. A successful candidate must have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ   and demonstrable leadership skills with a history of leading growing ministries.   In addition, candidates must be able to plan and organize programming and curriculum, and be able to manage and delegate responsibilities within the children’s ministry team.   The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment with church staff, parents and other congregants. The position will require presence and leadership on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, weekly staff meetings, Children’s Team meetings and other special events, including Vacation Bible School. As a part of a dynamic and growing congregation, the candidate must also be able to demonstrate the ability to be adaptable in an ever-changing environment. Purpose Children’s Ministry is at the core of our mission at Advent as we seek to reach, shape, and mold children as disciples of Jesus in a dramatically growing demographic.   The primary responsibility for the Director of Children’s Ministry will be to create, evaluate, and execute excellent ministry environments to provide for the spiritual formation of all children in cooperation with the Children’s Ministry Volunteer Coordinator and Director of Traditional Worship.     Position Structure and Compensation Full-time and commensurate with experience and abilities, year-round. Position Accountability Guidance for this position will be offered by the Executive Director. Qualifications A college degree in education or ministry preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.   The individual should have recent experience in leading children’s ministry and experience with choosing and executing curriculum.   The candidate should have strong knowledge and be able to articulate their experience with child development and family dynamics. This position sums up nicely here...     The Associate Minister to Kids and Families, in coordination with the Minister to Kids and Families, is responsible for the church’s ministry to kids, birth through grade 6, and their families. This a full-time, salaried position on the ministerial staff team, responsible for supporting the visionary leadership and direction of an integrated kids’ ministry. This includes Sunday morning Bible study, music & missions, special events and seasonal ministries for kids and their families.     We are seeking someone who can...     recruit and equip minstry volunteers who love Jesus and love kids. This includes, and is not limited to, Wednesday night leaders, Sunday morning teachers, worship care, special event and seasonal volunteers. Could be present in the classroom as needed.   schedule and plan ministry events from the largest details (like room reservations) to the smallest details (like purchasing ministry resources)  and everything in between.    assist in pastoral ministries, serve on ministry teams and committees as assigned and lead in worship when appropriate.   evaluate discipleship materials, manage storage and purchasing of ministry resources and operate within the constraints of a budget.   and, of course, be flexible because there are always “other duties as assigned.”     We would love someone who loves...    making kids’ ministries fun, interactive, Gospel-centered and intentional.  a good flow chart but isn’t afraid to think outside of the box or color outside the lines.   today’s culture and has the ability to function and communicate with kids and parents, through computers, email, social media and whatever is the next big thing.   working independently, but can also work within a team environment and on more than one project at a time.   being flexible, because sometimes it will rain even with no rain in the forecast.      But we must have...    someone who loves God and kids and will adhere to the Child Protection Policies of our church.   someone with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in early childhood education or a related field working with kids.     If everything above sounds great, here’s some information about First Baptist Huntsville and our great city...     We’re two hundred ten years old on paper, but we hardly act our age.
