Reports to: Pastor of Next Generation Ministry Department: Next Generation Ministry Status : Non-Exempt Hours: Up to 20/week POSITION OVERVIEW Rise City Church exists to be a loving and life-giving church who brings hope and healing in Jesus’ name. As a religious, non-profit organization (501c3) registered in the state of California, it is our mission to call people to Wake Up to Jesus, Rise to Life in Him and Shine to others. The Department of Next Generation Ministry at Rise City Church lives out this mission by partnering with parents to raise kids (birth-12th grade) with authentic faith in Jesus. The Elementary Coordinator provides leadership and administrative assistance to the Next Generation Ministry Department in order to disciple students (k-5th grade) into a loving, authentic faith in Jesus. This is accomplished through relational servant leadership to students, parents, and ministry coaches and volunteers and regularly scheduled Sunday morning kids programming that will value: Relationship-Driven ministry that prioritizes and incorporates small group discussion-focused learning as a key ingredient to effective discipleship. Empowering Leadership that views a leader’s key responsibility as training, equipping and empowering others for the work of the ministry rather than a “one-man show” approach. Mobilizing Faith through events and activities that incrementally stretch and challenge students to live out and apply their commitment to Jesus by shining to others through their actions. Communication to parents and volunteers that demonstrates the necessity and value of their involvement and support of the ministry. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Weekend Services (30%) Provides planning and oversight for weekly Kids Ministry services for K-5 grade students separately; including teaching, worship, games and dedicated time and space for small group relationship building and learning. Prepares, distributes and implements teaching materials and small group discussion guides appropriately, as provided by the Next Gen Pastor. Ensures meeting spaces and equipment are appropriately well-maintained, safe and conducive for effective learning and growth and that students are checked in and out in a secure and expedient manner each week. Upholds the Rise City Kids Management Plan at all times. Volunteer Team Leadership (30%) Recruits, trains and empowers adult volunteer coaches to share in the work of the ministry; as small group leaders, mentors and ministry partners. Ensures coaches and other volunteers are appropriately informed, scheduled and completing necessary tasks and responsibilities. Celebrates and champions volunteers to be seen as the heroes of the ministry and the primary point of connection for the students. Communication (20%) Attend weekly Rise City Kids staff meeting and monthly Next Generation team meetings. Ensures that all involved parties, especially volunteers and parents, are appropriately informed of all student ministry activities and engagements through multiple communication channels as necessary. Sends regular communiques to parents to ensure they are effectively aware of and connected to the work of the ministry, events and activities and specific topics being covered with the students. Connection and Events (10%) Plans, organizes and executes regularly scheduled special events and activities for 4-5th grade students that encourage connection, relationship building and faith development. Rise City Support Staff (10%) Participate in all mandatory activities and meetings associated with members of the Rise City staff as specifically assigned or required. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Knowledge Minimum one (1) year experience serving/leading in a kids or youth ministry role (preferred) Skills Exceptional leadership and supervisory skills Highly effective interpersonal abilities in mentoring, tactful diplomacy and conflict resolution Strong written and oral communication aptitude; including Biblical teaching and preaching Event planning and organization Administration and managing multiple tasks and projects concurrently Recognizing problems and finding solutions that uphold Rise City’s vision and values Self-motivated and flexible Competent in basic computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Abilities Capable of working independently with minimal direction and oversight Able to influence and connect with students and their parents through servant leadership Capacity to recruit, train and guide volunteer leaders Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workload Team player that builds and gives mutual trust and respect Strong aptitude to collaborate at all levels of an organization Rise City Church Employee Expectations: Active and growing integration of faith in Jesus Christ; evidences by action, attitude, speech and behavior Adherence to conflict resolution as listed in Matthew 18 and Ephesians 4:15 Faithfully supports Rise City as church home (regular attendance is required of exempt employees) Proactive participation in Rise City Strategic Initiatives Successful completion of a background check Understanding, agreement and adherence to the Rise City Statement of Faith Adheres to policies and procedures as outlined in the applicable Rise City Employee handbook Physical Requirements Ability to travel and attend activities outside of the home/office, to reach, hear, work independently, communicate effectively lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (with or without assistance). This position requires some periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer use that includes data entry and viewing data on a computer monitor. Mental Activities Frequent oral communication, listening, reading, writing, calculating, reasoning, analyzing are required.
