Be an essential part of the team focused on making young disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world in this fast-paced, full-time position as Ginghamsburg’s Children’s Ministry Director for the Tipp City Campus. You will lead a staff team; recruit, train and deploy great unpaid servant volunteer teams and leaders; and partner with parents to grow strong families and young followers of Jesus Christ. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in related field Demonstrated experience in managing multiple staff members Experience in large-church setting with children’s or family ministry Experience in deploying the Orange curriculum a plus SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Able to provide vision and direction for all aspects of children’s and family ministry Self-starter that is able to work independently under minimal supervision A demonstrated passion and commitment to the spiritual growth of children and their families Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, equip and encourage staff as well as volunteer servant teams Ability to partner with parents and engage parent involvement in ministry Expertise and continuous learner in children’s ministry Strong overall written and spoken communication skills Focus on detail and quality Capable and gifted teacher of children Systems thinker, planner and implementer Pastoral heart for ministry with core value of confidentiality Ability to work as part of a larger “get it done” church staff team POSITION REQUIREMENTS Background check required Time flexibility; requires weekend as well as some weeknight hours MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Ministry Give vision, leadership and oversight to all aspects of children’s ministry (Saturday, Sunday and weeknight opportunities) Support and partner with parents in the spiritual formation of their children, training and equipping them to have discussions with and to teach their children about God’s love for them, what it means to be a follower of Christ and what it means to be part of a community of faith. Develop strong volunteer and unpaid leadership teams to do the work of the ministry by implementing dynamic recruiting, training, motivating and support systems that will in turn be able to equip young disciples for the service of Christ. Guide the deployment of the Orange curriculum across all ages, supplementing as appropriate through the selection of additional curriculum/activities for weekend and weeknight large/small group opportunities for children that teach biblical principles and truths appropriate for the various developmental levels present. Provide leadership for radical hospitality at all times throughout the ministry for new guests as well as regular attendee children and families. Create and deploy serving and mission experiences for children and for children with their families. Create and nurture a safe sanctuary environment for children and their families, following the Safe Sanctuary model, where they experience the love of God most powerfully through the relationships they build with one another and with the larger community of faith. Work cooperatively with Adult Discipleship to provide classes and learning opportunities for effective parenting. Work cooperatively with the Student Ministry Director to ensure a smooth handoff between children’s and student ministries. Be proactive in researching, reading, and learning about/from other successful children’s and family ministry initiatives across the country. Leadership/Management Interact with and help lead multi-campus ministry initiatives for children’s ministry. Make daily ministry and administrative decisions on behalf of children’s ministry. Supervise a preschool & childcare curriculum, staff and facility within state and local legalities and state accreditation in conjunction with the center’s director. Attend weekly discipleship staff meetings to represent children’s ministry, and team together with other discipleship directors on church wide discipleship initiatives/designs. Oversee the recruiting, hiring, training and evaluation of the children’s staff team. Ensure all policies in the employee handbook are followed. Coordinate with the team to ensure phone calls, emails, etc. for follow up receive a prompt and appropriate response. Work with the team to ensure communication/administrative projects proceed as needed. Oversee the department budget process and expenditures. Any additional duties as needed or directed pertinent to the position by the Senior Executive Director.
