The church is seeking an experienced full-time lay Director of Children’s Ministries (DCM). This individual will serve as pastor, teacher, evangelist, and administrator who works collegially with staff and parishioners to share the love of Christ, and to develop and implement offerings and programs that serve the overall mission of the church.
Essential functions for this position include:
Oversee the Sunday school program, childcare, and liturgy opportunities for infants to 5th grade.
Work collaboratively with the formation staff to develop and implement a comprehensive and cohesive Christian formation plan.
Facilitate a vision for the children’s ministry working with the formation ministry staff and key volunteers to create a mission, and core values for the children’s ministry, as well as create three-year goals in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the broader church.
Discern, recruit, and equip adult leaders annually and provide leader trainings and ongoing support.
Serve as an ambassador to the community, building relationships with and facilitating opportunities for children and their families to build community.
Ensure all systems and processes are in place and well functioning.
Maintain and manage all modes of communication for children’s ministries, including weekly email updates.

This person connects people to the church community to engage them in worship, spiritual growth, and service opportunities. The position is the primary liaison between the church staff and program ministries as the church seeks to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” through worship, education, fellowship, service, and mission.
The Director of Connections will:
Serve as the staff liaison to the following ministries: welcome/hospitality, new members, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, senior adults, and others specified by the senior pastor. Works closely with each committee to implement programs and events.
Create a culture of hospitality so that all feel welcomed, cared for, guided, and nurtured in their spiritual journey.
Connects visitors at key entry points with people and programs
Develops an equipping ministry in which church members identify their gifts, explore ways to utilize those gifts in a way that is meaningful, and engage in the life and ministry of HUMC.
Identify and implement recruitment techniques for new lay leaders as the ministries grow.
Serves collaboratively with other staff to implement programs and events including, but not limited to:
Partner with the associate pastor to plan spiritual growth opportunities for the church
Partner with the director of children’s ministry to plan special events for parents
Qualified candidates must love equipping the saints, empowering them to live into the full potential of what God is calling them to do, approach ministry with a spirit of hope, and understand the value of good systems and processes to multiply ministry. S/he should enjoy people and have a warm and welcoming personality. A Bachelor’s degree is required along with five+ years of relevant experience in leadership of church programming. This position requires working on Sundays and familiarity with the Methodist Church or willingness to gain knowledge and understanding of the church.

This individual will oversee the programs of discipleship designed to help people of all ages live a life grounded in a faith in Jesus Christ. Primary responsibilities for the position include:
Map out the overarching scope and sequence of the discipleship pathway for children, youth, and families ( inclusive of weekly programming and annually occurring events )
Recruit, train, and support teams of volunteer leaders across the three ministry areas
Embrace opportunities to connect and build relationships with children, youth, and families outside of the church walls
Organize the infrastructure of each ministry, ordering paperwork, guiding processes, implementing systems, and managing child protective policies
Communicate regularly with key ministry stakeholders, effectively connecting with each generation
Steward the budget and maintain the financial accountability of the three ministry areas
Help establish a reliable and inviting name for the Children, Youth, and Family Ministries amongst the congregation and out into the larger community
Qualifications for this position are:
Church-based experience implementing and leading ministries towards sustainability
General familiarity with frequently used social media platforms
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing
Ability to organize and keep accurate and detailed records
Ability to work as part of a team
