The role of the Middle School Pastor is to provide leadership, development, and direction for the Middle School ministry and volunteer teams as it pertains to the vision, mission and strategy of environments for 6th-8ththGrade students. We desire to affirm the identity of middle schoolers. Our hope is to accomplish this through weekly small groups, quarterly retreats, mission trips, camps, big events, and being a part of their weekly rhythm on school campuses. Primary Responsibilities: · Provide vision, strategy, & development for Middle School Ministry environments (6th – 8th grade). · Provide fun activities that engage energetic Middle School Students in such a way that they want to invite their friends. · Produce a ministry to train middle school students for service and ministry in the church, community and world. · Oversee and develop program and curriculum for Sunday morning service. · Recruit, inspire and develop volunteer leaders for all areas of the middle school ministry · Develop and promotes a schedule of activities and events for the middle school ministry · Plan and executes special retreats and conferences for both middle school students and volunteers. · Create plan of maximizing the 4 pillars of youth ministry (Small Group, Retreats/Mission/Camps, Big Events, and Turf Ministry). · Work alongsideFamily Pastor to create program and plan with goal of connecting parents to Kidjam. · Work alongside Family Pastor to create sustainable plan for resourcing parents with information on parenting issues. · Create and manage a summer time ministry for middle school students. · Develop a strategy/ministry to transition students from 8th-9th grade alongside Family Pastor and High School Student Pastor · Periodic meetings with parents and counseling with students · Help plan special events. (ex. Volunteer appreciation, Summer Camps, FamJam, Parent U) · Assist with Summer Internship alongside Family Team. · Build relationships with students and families. · Other SSCC staff responsibilities. Desired Qualifications: · Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude and behavior. · Basic working understanding of “Orange” Family Ministries Strategy. · A passion for middle school ministry and desire to see families grow in their faith together. · Experience in recruiting, motivating, equipping and scheduling volunteer leaders. · Experience in designing and developing ministry programs for middle school aged children. · Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal). · Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Publisher), and the capacity to learn new software (Photoshop, Planning Center, others). · Comfortable speaking in front of people of all ages. · Adaptive personality that can engage with children.
