Position Objective: The Children’s Pastor is responsible to create a church weekend experience where kids will grow to be fully devoted followers of Christ, with a passion for His Word, an excitement about His church, and a commitment to serving His people! Position Overview: The Children’s Pastor leads and oversees kids programming across all NCC campuses. This position is responsible for the onboarding and initial investment of Location Kids Directors as well as their ongoing support, development, and training. The Children’s Pastor will communicate Family Ministry vision and objectives to Kids Directors. He/She will maintain consistent communication with Campus Pastors and work closely with them to maximize children’s programming at their locations. This position is responsible for the weekend experience in children’s ministry. This includes large and small group environments, themes, recruitment strategies, and safety and security. This position reports to the Director of Family Ministry. Kids Director and Campus Pastor Support Responsibilities: • Work with Campus Pastor to find and hire Location Directors and train and onboard into them Family Ministry. • Maintain consistent communication with Kids Directors and Campus Pastors. Provide ongoing support for location needs. • Meet with Kids Directors for regular individual touch points. • Lead weekly Kids Director conference call and monthly Kids Director meetings. • Initiate on-going training, investment, and support for Kids Directors (on-line book clubs or meet-ups, blog sharing, other training resources, etc.) Location Support and Oversight • Travel weekly to support locations while tracking location needs and responses. Ensure follow-up after each visit with reports and feedback. • Manage and oversee location budgets, schedules and teams. • Implement and oversee safety and security as well as evacuation plans at locations. • Lead the launch of new initiatives at locations. • Execute launch of new locations (and any moves or transitions). Offer investment and support to network locations. • Execute communication strategies across locations. Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and Support • Develop a training and investment rhythm for leaders and for volunteer teams. • Create and maintain on-boarding and training resources (manuals and videos) for both volunteers and Kids Directors. • Assist in creation of training materials based on the needs of locations. • Assist Kids Directors in creating strategies for recruiting and investing in core teams and volunteer teams. • Offer coaching sessions and specialized investment for volunteer teams. (Meet-ups or online sessions for hosts, age group leads, etc.) Weekend Experience Preparation • Work with the Family Ministry team to ensure preparation for each weekend service. • Collaborate with Family Ministry team on lessons, media distribution and supplies bins. • Oversee weekend previews to teams to ensure volunteers are prepared and ready weekly to invest in families. Discipleship Development • Work with Family Ministry team to develop discipleship resources for kids and families. • Work with Family Ministry team to develop and support strategy to encourage and support faith in the home. • Support baptism and faith foundations efforts. Data and Supply Management • Oversee data management system and family check-in efforts (including management of supplies and equipment). • Oversee online processing system for volunteer applications. • Work with Creative Team to maintain central file system (Dropbox) with resources for Kids Directors. • Manage budget for NCC Kids supplies and other items. NCC’s Budget Managers have a fiduciary responsibility to the CFO. They are responsible for requesting and/or approving payments for the budget areas they manage. All transactions must be processed in compliance with NCC’s policies and procedures. Accounts should be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure proper recording of account expenses. Required Qualifications and Skills: For this particular position, we are looking for someone with experience managing staff and/or teams of volunteers. Pastoral experience or classroom teaching experience a plus. • Desire and passion to serve Christ in the local church. • A commitment to the next generation. • Excellent communication skills – verbal, visual, written, and relational. • Attention to detail and accuracy even on time sensitive projects. • Strong problem solving, project and time management, and organizational skills. • Flexible to plan and work on multiple projects simultaneously; effective time management and workload prioritization. • Ability to turn around projects on short timelines. • Commitment to be a great team player who thrives on providing timely, high-quality support while maintaining strong relationships with NCC staff and volunteers. • As a budget manager, to intentionally spend NCC’s resources in a wise manner—seeking good stewardship by making spending decisions prayerfully. • To reflect Christ in words and actions—in both personal life and ministry.
