Job Description

Job Title: Minister to Children 

Definition & Summary of Position:

To serve the church by developing, coordinating and administering a comprehensive and expanding ministry program for children of the church and the surrounding community (infant through 5th grade). To provide leadership and supervision to staff members and volunteers involved in this ministry.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

(40%) - Recruit, train and motivate volunteers for leadership in children’s ministries           

              vision, strategy and outcomes.  Develop an Org Chart with a healthy “span of 

              care.”  Invest regularly in your direct reports.

(10%) - Recruit, train, coordinate and supervise Early Childhood Director.

(10%)  - Develop and maintain a spiritual formation strategy for children that mirrors 

             Grace Christian’s strategy and language (celebrate, connect & contribute).  Pay 

             specific attention early-on to creating welcoming environments (first 

             impressions) and small groups (assimilation).

(05%) - Manage the use of facilities and budget effectively, while maintaining a positive 

              and synergistic relationship with the Early Learning Center. 

(05%) - Review and select curriculum materials and educational tools for children’s 

              ministries defined outcomes.

(10%) - Develop and maintain an outreach program for children and families.

(10%)  - Represent the church by preparing for and serving on appropriate Grace 

              Christian teams (All Staff, First Sundays) and “All Hand’s on Deck” Events 

              (Super Bowl, Race at Grace, etc.).

(05%) - Stay up-to-date on national children’s ministry movements and ministry ideas.  

              Establish annual CM goals and evaluate progress.  

(05%)  - Occasionally perform other ministerial duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor 

               or Executive Pastor.

Necessary Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to identify leaders and build teams around those leaders.  Developer vs. Doer.

Must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of children’s work and good oral and written communication skills.  Orange philosophy a bonus.

Must have demonstrated leadership abilities and strong planning skills.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years children's ministry employment in a church of 300 or more.

A strong commitment to winning lost children to Christ.
