Job Description

The role of the Children’s Ministry Pastor is to develop, cast vision, and administrate effective ministries to children (newborn through 5th grade), and their parents, to assist in producing a unified family of believers being transformed by Jesus and empowered to live supernaturally while advancing the Kingdom of God everywhere we go!



-Be fully engaged and committed to the mission and vision of Central

-Participate in all church services, holiday/special services and prayer meetings

-Participate in all Ministry Team meetings and retreats as directed

-Contribute ideas and plans to the Next Generation Team

-Provide all pastoral functions, including hospital visitation, pastor-on-call, weddings & funerals  

-Be actively involved in discipleship with new believers, volunteers and leaders

-Perform other duties as determined essential by Lead Pastor


-Act as primary leader and communicator for entire children’s ministry (6 wks. old – 5th gr.)

-Cultivate a supernatural lifestyle in children by equipping and empowering them to minister using their talents, spiritual gifts (Romans 12) and the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12)

-Lead a team of directors, coordinators and volunteers to plan and implement a comprehensive children’s ministry, including outreach and special events

-Be intentional to address the real pressures that today’s children face

-Develop, research, and approve curricula for age-appropriate discipleship and student leadership  

-Provide special opportunities for children to encounter God through events, retreats and camps

-Ensure that children are fully integrated with the church-at-large

-Generate active missions involvement by including children in evangelism and outreach

-Connect appropriately with children & parents

-Create and enforce policies and procedures to provide a safe and secure environment

-Provide childcare for special events and group meetings on days other than Wednesday

-Teach the elementary-aged chapel on a rotation at Central Christian Academy (CCA)

-Act as liaison between CAG and CCA/Storybook Village Daycare


-Create healthy partnerships with parents by equipping them to disciple their child  

-Develop and oversee mentoring for parents of elementary-age children

-Promote and oversee regular parenting classes

-Communicate relevant family and parenting resources


-At least 3-5 years of children’s ministry experience preferred  

-College bachelor’s degree preferred  

-Ministry Credentials with Assemblies of God desired, or willingness to work toward

-Must evidence the biblical pastoral qualifications (Titus 1:6-9; 1 Timothy3: 1-7) and agree to the Constitution and By-Laws of Central Assembly of God    

-Vibrant personality that demonstrates passion for children

-Must demonstrate kindness and a cooperative attitude toward teamwork


-Ability to cast vision, develop leadership and motivate children to lead among peers

-Creative and innovate when planning and solving problems  

-Able to multi-task and maintain composure under pressure

-Flexibility with sharing classrooms and spaces with school and daycare  

-Begin and end projects within reasonable timeframe  

-Disciplined and able to work within budget parameters

-Excellent listening skills with the ability to recall important information    

-Knowledgeable concerning relevant legal and ethical issues

-Ability to utilize various technologies and social media  

-Organized and willing use technologies for project/task completion


-Full time, salary plus benefits, exempt  

-40-50 hours/week minimum  

-One weekday off per week, excluding special events and services    

-Weekend Schedule: Attend and serve at all worship and special/holiday services    

-On-call as part of a pastoral care rotation in evenings and weekends  

-Vacation and personal days included  

-Office closed the week between Christmas and New Years  

-7 day annual allotment for missions trip

-Central Christian Academy tuition paid in full for children (50% from CAG / 50% from CCA)
