Full time Children's Pastor/Director

Job Description

At Trinity, we know that kids make eternal decisions. That’s why we’re looking for an organized, energetic, visionary leader with a big heart for kids to serve as Trinity’s Children’s Ministry Director.

Trinity is a church that has a unified approach to youth discipleship. We use a philosophy of ministry that believes that when parents and the church partner together, the best disciples are made. This philosophy comes from the book called “Think Orange”, and is supported by a curriculum that spans ages 0-18 years old. While it is important to be passionate about children ministry in general, it is also important to be able to work with the other ministry departments to maintain this unified approach to ministry.

This position is approximately 40 hours weekly including Sunday mornings.

  • A demonstrated love for kids
  • A passion to “think Orange” in children’s ministry at Trinity
  • Administrative and organizational abilities
  • Ability to build teams and lead people
  • A personal life that demonstrates credibility and inspires trust
  • Maintains Trinity’s values of “God first, family second, ministry third” in their work family balance.

  • Implementing the Orange strategy within children’s ministry at Trinity.
  • Training staff and volunteers our philosophy of ministry
  • Overseeing the curriculum distribution
  • Building, equipping and shepherding ministry teams
  • Recruiting and overseeing volunteer staffing
  • Developing and implementing “best practices” for Children’s Ministry at Trinity in all areas including:
    • Teaching
    • Safety/Security
    • Classroom Management
    • Curriculum
    • Working with Trinity staff and pastors to achieve Trinity’s church-wide mission and vision.

This position implements our children’s philosophy of ministry at Trinity from the nursery through 5th grade.  This includes Sunday morning ministry (pre-school = “First Look” and grade school = “252”) programs.  Running or coordinating summer camps or programs as needed.  Partnering with parents through equipping events and consistent communication systems.  Leading and training teachers, small group leaders, and volunteers.

As is the case in all Trinity staff positions, it is expected that this leader will not perform all of these ministries him/herself, but will identify, develop, deploy and oversee leaders and teams to carry out ministry. Our ideal is that in each of their areas of leadership, ministry staff focus on ministries only they can do, by right of their unique gifts and leadership role in our church, and that they raise up and equip the rest of the body to do the ministry God has called each member to.
