Position Description:

The position of children’s pastor/director at Bethany Church is one that simultaneously challenging, rewarding, exciting and diverse in ministry opportunity. Bethany is known for excelling in both children’s and youth ministries! Bethany Church offers in its ministry path for children: Kidstuff (see website), Awana, and various small group sessions. The next leader of this children’s ministry will strive to build upon the outstanding foundation and reputation already present at Bethany Church in regards to their children’s ministry.

Attributes, Characteristics, Education and Experience:

Education:

Bachelor's degree-with emphasis in specific ministry area or in childhood education. 

Seminary training-preferred but not required.

Experience with Orange curriculum is a high preference.

Experience:

3-5 yrs. experience in mid to large size church (500 on a Sunday morning) as a children’s pastor/director, or associate staff under a children’s pastor/director.

Reports to Senior Pastor

Provides leadership to all children’s volunteers

Participates in staff meetings

Communicates monthly to parents

  

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for ministry to children (birth through 5th grade) and to their families.  The primary objective is to pastor, provide leadership, and build ministry Teams with the staff and volunteers in these ministries.

Provide and communicate philosophy, vision, and goals of the ministry to parents, children, and volunteers

Train and equip all staff Ministry Team Leaders

Oversee the selection, evaluation, and creation of curriculum and calendar

Coordinate and maintain the yearly program and calendar

Minister to families which may include: parent training, teaching, counseling, and resourcing

Oversee the budget and facilities for Children’s Ministries

Walk in deep intimacy with Jesus Christ
