The Pastor/Director of Middle School recruits, develops, and provides leadership for the volunteers whose ultimate mission is helping middle school students follow Jesus. They will be responsible for the discipleship of middle school students connected to the ministry through worship and life groups. The Pastor/Director of Middle School Ministry partners with the rest of the Family Ministry team in order to provide support and leadership to all areas of Family Ministries. Lake Ave Churchis looking for a candidate who is spiritually passionate, is experienced with and values diversity, is relational, honest and vulnerable, leads well, deeply knows middle schoolers, builds great volunteer teams, and is fun. We are looking for someone to lead for the long term. With our diverse student group, it is critical that our Middle School Pastor/Director relates well to diverse groups ethnically, socio-economically, and culturally. Important to this position are the following: The Pastor/Director is part of a team, reporting to the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries, and working alongside ministry leaders in Early Childhood, Elementary, High School, and College. The Pastor/Director supervises one ministry associate, and oversees a large team of volunteers. The Pastor/Director functions as part of the pastoral team of the church. The Pastor/Director connects and communicates well with the parents of students. There are also areas that make this position unique. Middle School ministry is a healthy and vibrant part of our church yet there is a significant opportunity for new energy and growth. There is no expectation that one would just come in and manage that which is happening but provide vision and direction that is integrated with the whole of ministry. Lake Ave Church is in the midst of a Senior Pastor transition. We are currently looking for a new Senior leader and are excited about the possibilities of the coming season. These present both opportunities and challenges, however the Middle School Ministry has great strength in its paid and volunteer staff, we also have a significant engagement with students, families and the church at large. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional youth ministry experience partnering and communicating with parents, recruiting, training and retaining great volunteer teams, organizing and leading in the larger church context (not just youth ministry).
